Once a month I take myself on a date that most people would typically wait to be invited on. I crash spaces meant for couples having a romantic evening together to learn how to feel confident and worthy on my own. I admit it’s awkward at first. I get nervous and overthink it, but I go anyways. I refuse to miss out on life just because there’s no one to go with me. Now crashing date night has become one of my favorite pastimes and I’m always looking for my next adventure.

I was scrolling through Instagram and came across an advertisement for a Candlelight Concert by Fever. I was immediately enamored with the vibe of this date. Candlelight flooded the stage. The quartet was surrounded as a they played classical renditions of today’s popular music. It was enchanting and exactly what I was craving. As I looked at the different venue options, I felt a ping of uncertainty. Did I really want to go on such a romantic date alone? I continued to go back and forth with the question but ultimately decided I was worthy of romanticizing my life despite my relationship status.

Over the last few years, I have attended four of these captivating concerts at a few different venues. For me, the Lonestar Flight Museum is hands down the best venue in the Houston area. The combination of aviation history, candlelight, and live music is truly magical. The moment I walked into the hangar, I felt like I had been whisked away to the set of a 2000’s rom com. Planes lit from underneath encircled the luminescent stage. Lovers stole selfies and kisses against the one-of-a-kind backdrop. Romance swirled in the air weaving in between the couples and the aircrafts. The energy buzzing through the hangar was palpable. I must admit; I started to feel a bit out of place but quickly redirected my attention to the planes on display and went on a self-guided tour.

The lights began to dim, and everyone found their seats. The band took center stage, and my excitement was bubbling over. The seductive sounds of Bad Bunny filled the hangar. The richness of the viola and velvet echoes of the cello harmonized magically. Violins sang as fingers plucked and bows tickled their strings. The violinist hypnotized me with the love and joy he poured into his music. I was bewitched by the end of the first set. I danced along as each song reverberated through my soul. The last song played but I wasn’t ready to be released from this energy. Luckily for us, they played an encore.

My Solo Date Review: Candlelight Concert at The Lonestar Flight Museum

Atmosphere: 10/10 One of the most romantic solo dates I’ve been on.

Venue: 101/10 I will go back to this venue again and again.

Solo Date Friendliness: 8/10 I felt out of place for a moment before we took our seats. It’s great for solo daters because you shouldn’t be talking through the performance anyway.

Cost: 6/10 This varies depending on the theme and time of the concert. It can be pricey, but the experience is well worth it.

Would I Recommend It? 10/10 Absolutely. I highly recommend a Candlelight Concert at The Lonestar Flight Museum. The vibe has been unmatched.

If going to a Candlelight Concert isn’t on your Solo Date List, it needs to be. You don’t need a plus one to enjoy your life. Singles deserve beautiful and unique experiences too. This is definitely one you don’t want to miss out on. Stay tuned to see where my next adventure takes me!
